FEASSA Games: Lamaro emphasizes discipline as she flags off team Uganda to Huye
The Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Education and sports Ketty Lamaro has urged all Ugandan team that will represent the country in this year’s Federation of East African Secondary School Sports Associations (FEASSSA) Games to observe discipline and be accountable during the competition.
The Permanent Secretary was addressing the team during the flagging-off event held at NCS offices on Wednesday. She addressed over 1500 students from over 30 schools that travelled to Rwanda for the regional school competitions.
The games will kick off on August 19th and run up to 28th in Huye, Rwanda.
The Permanent Secretary Lamaro alongside the State minister for primary Education Hon. Joyce Moriko Kaducu wished the team luck as they sent them to go and defend their overall trophy they won last year.
“Discipline should be one of the tools in this battle as you work hard and smart to make us proud again by defending the overall trophy. We shall be patiently waiting to welcome you back with great success.” Said Ketty Lamaro the Permanent Secretary.
The President of Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) Justus Mugisha who also doubles as the FEASSA president wished luck to team Uganda as they are to face tougher opposition in defending their crown.
“All of these teams going to represent us in Rwanda are all Champions in different games like the Fresh Diary games, Ball games II and they have prepared enough as they have been in camp so that they can represent us very well at national level. We expect them to compete very well though it will too competitive as others countries have also prepared enough, we expect the best for team Uganda.” Said Justus Mugisha.
Uganda has sent the highest number of participants in this year’s tournament with over 1500 students participating in the 12 disciplines like Football, Rugby 7’s & 15’s, Netball, Volleyball, Hockey, Handball, Swimming, Basketball 3X3 & 5X5, Badminton, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis and Athletics.
There so far four countries that have confirmed participation in the 2023 FEASSA games to be held in Rwanda and thats Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and the hosts Rwanda.
